Partial Gastrectomy for Duodenal Ulcer


Abstract
Authors performed gastrectrmy for duodunal ulcer of 106 patients at Pusan National University Hospital and other clinics during the period covering from November 1956 to November 1966.
Of which, 102 paitents received subtotal gastrectomy, 2 cases Billroth I type surgery, and the rest of 2 cases, Vagotomy with hemigastrectomy.
The clinical observations on them revealed¢¥the following findings.
1) The surgical mortality rate after the operation was 2.6% (3 cases) and the casues of the death were delayed arrival and surgery with duodenal perforation and hemorrhage.
2) The accidental surgical injuries on common bile duct and pancreas duct were made on 2 cases and consequently they were, operated, one of them for choledochoduodenostomy, pancreaticoduodenostomy, gastrojejunostomy and the other for choledochojejunostomy, pancreaticojejunostomy, gastrojejunostomy; jejunojejunostomy and eventually they were discharged without events.
3) The postoperative clinical observation for 10 to 15 days revaled the following results. W patients ¢¥(56 had excellent results.
3T patients (3576) were good.
3 patients (2.6%) were poor.
4) 38 patients with subtotal gastrectomy received delayed observation after one year or more absence postoperatively and the following clinical findings were obtanied.
29 cases (76.37o) were ¢¥excellent.
3 cases ( 7.990) were good.
5 cases (13.176) were fair.
1 cases ( 2.6%) was poor.
Authors presume, considering the above observations, the partial gastrectomy for the duodeuol ulcer is good procedure.
